The price war in the fiber only rates it seems that it will be extended at least during the first half of November. Movistar was the one who started it in mid-September, with 300 Mbps fiber at 14.90 euros. Currently we can find the 600 Mbps for that price, which is unbeatable; except if we take into account that others like Orange offer other additional improvements for a little more price.
Orange was the last to join the crazy offers of fiber-only rates with an offer in the modality of 600 Mbps. By 18.95 euros per month, have 600 Mbps symmetric fiber and the Livebox 6 router as a gift, with the latest WiFi connectivity 6. In addition, the price remains the same during the first 12 months, which is also the duration of the operator’s stay.
Extended until November 17
This offer ended yesterday, November 1, but the operator has extended it at least until the next November 17. Both of Movistar like that of Vodafone They end the next morning, and there was uncertainty about what operators were going to do for the month of November. Luckily for users, these rates are going to be extended for at least a few more weeks, leaving some margin to be able to contract them.
The rate continues to offer the same conditions as before for the same price, including, in addition to the 600 Mbps fiber, the landline with unlimited calls to other landlines. In calls to mobile, we have 1,000 free minutes of Monday to Friday from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., and 24 hours on weekends. In the case of wanting unlimited calls to mobiles, we can also contract them additionally for 1 euro more per month.
How long will these crazy offers last?
This battle is reminiscent of the one that the operators began together with the confinement, where Movistar decided to launch the unlimited data rate, and the rest of the operators decided to do the same as well. Unlimited data rates are here to stay then, although not at the same prices as at launch. These rates have been changing their promotions, and now, for example, we can find Movistar’s for 19.95 euros during the first three months.
Therefore, it would not be surprising if fiber only rates of the operators that have their own coverage continue to fall at these prices. Digi, for example, offers 1 Gbps for 20 euros on its own network, so it is not surprising that Movistar or Orange can offer even lower prices on their own network, and with the advantage that they both reach more than 40 million homes (some in duplicate, since there are sites with fiber coverage from Orange and Telefónica).
These prices are so low that they seem like counter offers, but nothing could be further from the truth. Not even MVNOs can compete, since most use indirect access from operators such as Telefónica, and at a cost of almost 18 euros. For this reason, they cannot compete in price with these rates, and many of them are currently completely lost without knowing what to offer customers so that they do not go towards these rates.
