The second edition of the FIA Motorsport Games has been postponed, decision that supposes the second postponement of an event that was programmed for the month of October 2020. If by then mobility restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic led FIA and SRO Motorsports as promoters of the event to postpone their dispute, a year later the scenario has not changed excessively. In fact, the FIA Motorsport Games that were to be held between October 29 and 31 of this year have been postponed to the last weekend of October 2022.
Despite this new postponement, FIA and SRO Motorsports have confirmed that the rules of the event will not be modified for 2022, so the FIA Motorsports Games They will have Marseille as the host city, while the Paul Ricard circuit will be the headquarters of the competition. It should be remembered that the first edition of this multidisciplinary event was held in Rome with the Vallelunga circuit as a competitive setting. In the first edition, a total of 49 countries were represented in an event that is made up of teams formed by the National Sports Authorities (ASN).
In relation to this postponement, Jean Todt As president of the FIA, he has indicated that this decision is a logical step given the nature of the event: «This postponement is an unavoidable decision considering the travel difficulties the world is still going through.. The FIA Motorsport Games are a rare opportunity for the entire motorsport family to come together and share in the passion we all have for the sport. For this reason we believe that the second edition of the event should not be held this year. We are all looking forward to seeing the teams from the different ASNs in 2022».
