From the official account of the film, the first images have arrived that correspond to three posters that appear in black and white colors under a gloomy and sinister gaze of its protagonist and that resembles the role of Linda Blair in the role that immortalized her 50 years ago.
The film is directed by David Gordon Green, who already worked on the ‘Halloween’ saga and will now present what will be a trilogy of films that will serve as a direct sequel to the first installment under the Universal and Blumhouse label.
‘The Exorcist: Believer’ will see the triumphant return of actress Ellen Burstyn, thus reprising her role as Chris MacNeil. And alongside her Linda Blair as Regan, a victim of Pazazu’s demonic possession.
Joining them is Leslie Odom Jr., who will play the heartbroken father of a possessed child who chases after Ellen Burstyn’s character for help in freeing him from possession.
It is worth remembering that the original film is based on the book by William Peter Blatty, which was inspired by a real exorcism that occurred in Washington in 1949, and which spawned two sequels. The first one was ‘The Exorcist: The Heretic’ which had Linda Blair as Regan in the cast and ‘The Exorcist III’ without her.
Years later came a prequel that was presented as ‘Exorcist: The Beginning’ released in 2004 and directed by Renny Harlin. The person in charge of directing the film was originally Paul Schrader, but the producers fired him since they considered that the version he was making was not enough.
Finally, after the commercial disappointment of Harlin’s version, Schrader’s version was released, entitled ‘Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist’ in 2005, which showed the life of Father Lankester Merrin before the events with Regan.
