The digital world underwent a transition due to the pandemic, causing doubts about its evolution in the coming years.
It is estimated that by 2030, three out of five people on the planet will have access to the Internet.
The eCommerce had a growth in 2020 of 28 percent, and is expected to reach a further 7 percent by 2025.
During the pandemic, the world underwent a transition where digitization seemed like a futuristic term. And it is that despite the fact that technology has taken gigantic steps, it should be recognized that a large part of the world, prior to this event, was still unaware of the potential that it carries.
For this reason, within all the horrible things that the health contingency entailed, something positive was the acceleration in the understanding of the digital world.
The evolution of digitization through the pandemic
Much is said about the change that consumers and users suffered in the face of the trends of the digital world, although little is said about this evolution towards digitization.
Due to this event, the use of social networks ceased to be so limited and acquired a different interest, the path towards connection with other areas, becoming its own sales site through its section of marketplace.
We also have to for the year 2020more than 2 billion people made the transition to the digital market, while for the same year, e-retail sales exceeded 4.2 trillion US dollars worldwide. In June of that same year, global retail e-commerce traffic stood at a record 22 billion monthly visits..
A study of SimilarWeb Y EBANX showed which were the platforms of eCommerce most used by Mexicans during the second year of the pandemic: in the first place, the presence of Free market, with 1.3 billion visitors; in second place was amazon, with 698 million; on step number three was located Coppel, with 334 million; followed by Walmart Y Liverpool with 287 and 193 million respectively.
About this, Reboldcompany of marketing, eCommerce and communication, focused on data analysis, published the analysis of the panorama of the digital world from the pandemic and its projections for the future.
“It is very clear that as a result of the pandemic the digital world changed forever, the growth caused by the confinement and the change in habits has brought with it a significant increase in Internet users, so much so that it is expected that by 2030, three out of five people on the planet, be part of this virtual community”mentions the brand’s statement.
On the other hand, the study considers that, even in the face of a possible slowdown, the Internet will continue to represent a stratospheric cumulative purchasing power until 2030, although the biggest bet will be to increase the penetration rates of digital services in established markets.
“Technological evolution and digitization are constantly evolving processes, in this context all segments and stakeholders must also be addressed, including those that could be left behind and exacerbate inequalitiesseeking new intelligent solutions to solve social problems, optimizing resources, and achieving more sustainable, efficient and profitable organizations”says Lara Julbe, director of Rebold Mexico.
The projection of electronic commerce is also favorable if we take into account that it experienced a global growth of 28 percent in 2020. For 2021 this trend continued thanks to the change in digital shopping patterns.
Therefore, it is expected that during the 2021-2025 period, the e-commerce market will grow at a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 7 percent, resulting in revenue of over $4 trillion by 2025. This translates to a 17 percent share of total retail revenue in 2021 with a projection of reaching 25 percent by 2025.
Without a doubt, digital commerce is still experiencing a gradual growth that will end up being consolidated for that year.
