The new Dacia Duster 2024 is already looming on the horizon. The third generation of the popular Dacia SUV will be a reality. A model that will be updated and will present important changes at the mechanical level. We advance the keys to the engines that will make up the new Duster range and, more importantly, its commitment to electrification.
Dacia is working at full capacity in the design and development process of a new generation of one of its star models. The Dacia Duster will soon debut what will be its third generation. The popular cheap SUV will undergo a comprehensive renovation. It will be a completely new vehicle from a technical point of view and will boast design, technology and mechanics.
The new Duster, planned for the year 2024, is already beginning to glimpse on the horizon. And there are many keys to take into account of a model that has captivated the public worldwide. It is not only a success in Europe. Away from the borders of the Old Continent it also has great popularity as it is marketed under the Renault brand. The time has come for the Duster to leave behind its antiquated base and switch to using the CMF-B platform.
The engine range of the new Dacia Duster 2024
It is one of the main changes that will occur with the arrival of the third generation. The use of the CMF-B platform opens the door to the electrification of the Duster. Moreover, as we have analyzed in a previous publication, electrification will be key in the future of the Duster 4×4. This architecture opens the door to a whole series of adjustments regarding the mechanical section.
Currently, the Duster is available with gasoline and diesel engines and in a bifuel version with a block adapted to LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas). All of them conventional engines without electrification and, in the case of diesel mechanics, exclusively associated with the 4×4 version. Well, this will change with the arrival of the Dacia Duster 3. The third generation will bet everything on gasoline and low- and mid-level electrification.
The new Duster will focus its mechanical offer on the 1.3-litre TCe petrol engine with 130 hp. Also there will be a block 1.3 TCe of 150 CV electrified with light hybrid system (MHEV) of 12 volts. And although the six-speed manual gearbox will be the protagonist, the EDC dual-clutch automatic transmission will remain in the portfolio. A transmission that is currently offered with six relations.
The Dacia Duster 2024 does not give up LPG and will bet on electrification
The previously described mechanics will be available until at least 2027, the year in which the Euro 7 regulations are expected to come into force. LPG will continue to be presentthough Dacia will make changes. The bifuel version will be based on the 1.3 TCe engine. The 1.5 Blue dCi diesel engine, as we have previously pointed out, will no longer be available.
Giving up diesel will allow the Duster incorporate a self-charging hybrid version (HEV). An engine based on E-Tech technology from the Renault Group. This variant will make use of a 1.6-litre petrol engine. The same block used, for example, by the hybrid Renault Captur.
