This 2022 could be the last year that we would see the marriage between FIFA and EA. Find out more details, in the note.
2022 is full of news, with the purchase of Blizzard by Microsoft and rumors of a new subscription system for PlayStation, EA decides to give new news about its acclaimed game. This morning, some insiders in the gaming community reported that EA’s marriage to FIFA would end this year.
the insider jeff grubhe proclaimed on his Grubbsnax premium show “EA Sports Football Club, EA Sports FCthat’s the name of the game”. According to his sources he clarified “FIFA see the success of the game EA and wants a bigger piece of the pie. But EANaturally, you don’t want to reduce your profit more than what is already being reduced. As a big, global game, it’s hell in terms of license fees, negotiations, and legal work. And besides, EA is responsible for that work. FIFA it is not accompanied by real teams or players“
Of course, with the information we have since last year with the acquisition of these names by EA, we could see the end of this happy and at the same time complicated marriage that lasted almost 30 years. This marriage cost EA more than 1 billion dollars just for the use of the FIFA name. This had created a bit of friction on the relationship, when the CEO from ElectronicArts, Andrew Wilson, proclaimed “FIFA is four letters in a box” at a press conference for VGC.
The companies began to work together in the FIFA ’94 for consoles, but after so many years and already with its own name, EA decides to take a different path, with FIFA 23 being his last game by contract with the company that handles world football.
