The DTM has managed to settle into the GT3 scene. Its sprint format based on the participation of one driver per car has been supported by the ‘racing-client’ programs of five major manufacturers such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Ferrari and Lamborghini. With a ‘sporadic’ project from Christian Klien and JP Motorsport, McLaren also has a presence in the series from time to time. And with a similar bet, Porsche joins to the list of manufacturers of the DTM, since SSR Performance to line up a Porsche 911 GT3 for Michael Ammermüller at the Nürburgring rendezvous.
Porsche thus becomes the seventh manufacturer with representation in the DTM hand in hand with a very interesting project, since Michael Ammermüller and SSR Performance will be at the Nürburgring with the aim of exploring whether the DTM is the right platform to expand their sporting project. In the fourth round of the championship they will meet Hubert Haupt and Luca Stolz, two drivers who compete as guests. There will also be Markus Winkelhock, although in this case as a substitute driver for Sophia Flörsch due to the coincidence of dates with Le Mans. A growing grill in which Porsche will have its space for the first time.
SSR Performance is the sports arm of the company with the same name, specialized in the comprehensive repair and maintenance service for sports and classic vehicles. After playing his first season, completing the ADAC GT Masters in 2020 and winning the drivers and teams title, the team is looking at new horizons. Michael Ammermüller and Mathieu Jaminet are the two pilots of the team in the German competition, although it was the German who was chosen to compete with the Team Porsche 911 GT3 R in the DTM.
