The new Dacia Jogger is one of the latest bets from the Romanian brand, a family model with a more road-going cut with which the firm has surprised the market. Almost as much as the result obtained after the tests it has undergone in Euro NCAP. A single star, but it has an important key behind it.
The new Dacia Jogger it is the latest newcomer to the model range of the Romanian brand. A very modern design loaded with novelties with which they have replaced the old Lodgy, changing the minivan format by a family member with some crossover aptitude. A very sensible option that is combined with an interesting range of mechanics.
The Jogger is one of the most attractive alternatives on the market in its category, which is why its results in the recent crash tests of Euro NCAP Customer decisions may vary. The Romanian has obtained a single star of the five possible with which the body qualifies the tests, although all that glitters is not gold. From the outset, we already tell you that such a score does not mean that is not safe. If it does not pass the tests, it could not be soldin the European Union. So, the question that more than one will ask is what has gone wrong?
The new Dacia Jogger undergoes the Euro NCAP safety evaluation program
The Dacia Jogger is not dangerous, bad luck in Euro NCAP
Euro NCAP considers different aspects to award the ratings to each model, so the issue is not strictly one of crash tests, but also takes into account the safety equipment included in the series list, especially those of impact mitigation or driving assistants who are responsible for detecting an impending collision. In fact, the Jogger has achieved the following results:
- Adult occupant protection: 70%
- Child occupant protection: 69%
- Protection of vulnerable road users: 41%
- Driving assistants: 39%
Analyzing the results more closely, the reality is that the average obtained by the Sandero barely varies, with 26.6 points compared to 26.9 points for the five-door model, which is not an argument to describe it as dangerous, even pointing to the manufacturing materials of the chassis structure. The reality is that Euro NCAP is giving a special role to active safety assistants, and they are precisely the ones that are not available in the new Jogger, not even as an option. Something that the brand should take note of, and especially Renault. One of the real keys, since the results in the crash tests have not been so bads altogether.
- Head-on collision against a fixed barrier: 12.1 out of 16 points.
- Side Impact: 10.7 out of 16 points.
- Rear Impact: 3.3 out of 4 points.
- Rescue and extraction: 0.5 out of 2 points.
Cost issue that the new Dacia Jogger does not have today ADAS driving safety assistantssuch as the advanced emergency call, the multi-collision braking system, the involuntary lane change assistant or the recognition of speed limit signs. Compensate with low-idle driver fatigue detection or lane departure alert.
Even so, the Jogger has also had bad luck, of those that are not forgiven. And it is that it has been directly penalized by a detail of the unit available for testing. Equipped with a third row of seats, the unfastened seat belt warning system did not work properly. There is only one chance, so the malfunction of a warning device like this is enough to throw away the chance to get a better rating.
