In a recent interview, the director Bryce DallasHoward talked about his experience in the universe starwars directing several chapters of The Mandalorian and what we can expect from the future series of Ahsoka.
First of all, they asked him about what he knew about the franchise before joining the list of directors of The Mandalorian. He revealed that his father is a very good friend of George Lucas, and also told the story of how he met Natalie Portman at a summer camp.
As a child, our father was, and still is to this day, very good friends with George Lucas, creator of Star Wars. We are close to the age of his children. The last time I saw him, George said, ‘I have a picture of all of you in the bathtub together.’ And so, every year for Christmas, we received Star Wars figurines. Before I was old enough to know who the characters were and what the stories were, I was buying these little figurines, and I was really curious about it, and I really liked it. I learned about Star Wars first through toys. And when I was old enough to watch movies, of course we watched movies. And then I got even luckier, because when I was 15, I went to a summer camp, and one of my friends at that summer camp is a woman named Natalie.
Howard went on to mention that when Portman was shooting the prequels, he visited her on set several times as a friend.
And right after we were at that camp together, she went and shot the prequels. Since I knew George and was friends with Natalie, and she was quite young, I wanted a friend to come visit her. And then I had to go to the set. So when I got to direct The Mandalorian, I didn’t realize how well I knew Star Wars, but I knew it pretty well. Of course, there is always more to learn. And there’s this guy, Dave Filoni.
The director went on to name her partner Dave Filoni, who she says knows starwars better than anyone else apart from George Lucas.
Yeah. So, Dave Filoni, he knows Star Wars better than anyone else apart from George, and George taught him when he was doing The Clone Wars because they did it together. And we worked together on The Mandalorian.
As a final preview, Howard confidently stated that fans of Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be greatly rewarded when the series of Ahsoka.
Without giving anything away, you guys are going to love the upcoming Ahsoka series. I can’t tell you anything, but what I can say is that being a fan of The Clone Wars will be very rewarding.
