The Chilean Army suffered a computer attack on its institutional data network, although its critical information systems would not have been affected, an institutional statement reported on Monday.
This is not the first time that computer attacks have been reported against Armed Forces institutions or some of their advisory bodies. Last year the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces was affected, with the theft of some 400,000 emails.
The scope of the attack is still being evaluated
A statement from the Army indicates that “critical information systems have not been affected to date” by the computer attack, although they continue to evaluate “its eventual scope.”
