The cheapest LPG car you can buy in Spain can also boast of being the best seller. There is an important reason for the majority of the Spanish public to opt for the cheapest option when betting on this alternative fuel to gasoline and diesel.
The rise of the electrified vehicle is overshadowing any other mobility option. The transition process to the electric car in Europe is picking up pace despite the fact that there are still equally valid alternatives on the market. And the truth is that the sales figures show it. The gas car market, and more specifically the vehicle adapted to the LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) withstands the many challenges facing the industry.
In recent years the supply of LPG cars has been reduced considerably. However, there are still major manufacturers that are committed to this technology in the short and medium term. The Renault Group is the clear dominator of the LPG market in Spanish territory and in much of the rest of the Old Continent. Despite the fact that in the Renault range there are important models with a gas version, it is Dacia that champions this commitment.
The best-selling LPG car in Spain
It is in the Dacia brand where we find a perfect cocktail. The Dacia Sandero is the best-selling LPG car, and at the same time, the cheapest you can buy. For a considerable time now, the Sandero has led the list of best-selling gas cars in Spain with an iron fist. Moreover, on many occasions this model has brought together practically half of the registrations of bifuel cars.
In the convulsive year 2021 marked by the stock crisis in dealerships due to the global shortage of microchips, the Sandero was, by far, the best-selling gas car in Spanish dealerships. Total sales of the Sandero reached 20,419 units. And of that amount, a total of 7,129 units corresponded to the LPG Sandero. Registrations of the bifuel model grew by 100.76% compared to 2020.
The current situation is quite similar to that described previously. So far in 2022, that is, the period between the months of January and July, Sandero sales have accumulated 11,704 units. For its part, the Sandero LPG closed the first seven months of the year with 3,993 units, 27.04% more than in the previous year. This volume of registrations allows it to lead the sales ranking.

The reason why the Dacia Sandero is the best-selling LPG car in Spain
Price is one of determining keys in the success of the Sandero as a LPG car. For price, its most direct rivals are the Ford Fiesta and the Renault Clio. In its access version, the Sandero with a bifuel engine has a starting price of €14,600 without discounts or promotions. The Clio does the same from €19,500 while the Fiesta is worth a little more, €20,906 to be exact.
The Dacia model, in its LPG version, has brought together all the necessary ingredients for commercial success. Even more so in these troubled times. It can not only boast of being a cheap carwhen equipping a mechanism with bifuel technology, it shines the ECO environmental label from the DGT
(General Directorate of Traffic) with all the advantages of mobility that it entails. And in last place is, precisely, the fuel itself. The LPG is currently much cheaper than gasoline. The price difference compared to diesel is equally notable. The price of a liter of liquefied petroleum gas is around one euro.
Lastly, and as additional information, we must start from the basis that the Sandero has been, for years, the best-selling car to individuals in Spain. The popularity that this model has been dragging among the Spanish public has been another of the reasons that have allowed its gas version to rise.
