The mysterious advance of the firm of Molsheim already has a name. It is called Bugatti W16 Mistral, and it is the great novelty that the most luxurious and exclusive manufacturer of the Volkswagen group has presented at the Monterey Motor Week. An unprecedented one-off, based on the Chiron, which transforms this hypercar into a high-rise roadster.
Bugatti could not say goodbye to the Chiron if he did not do it in style. Getting rid of one of the most successful models in its history, with all the production sold, did not have the overtones of a deserved farewell. And if we add to this the fact that, after two years, the firm has been able to attend a new face-to-face appointment at the Monterey Motor Weekthe circle has been closed with the presentation of a creation as unique as Divo’s, but much more exclusive.
Those of Bugatti have waited until now to present a one-off that we would have liked much more if it had been the desired Chiron Roadster, and that it has never been scheduled for production. This uncovered roof body with a special personality is the one that has debuted on board the Bugatti W16 Mistral. A hypercar to roll without a roof and very high speeds says goodbye to the sports car and also to the more traditional combustion, which has turned the powerful Bugatti W16 block into one of the works of engineering.
Bugatti W16 Mistral
The exclusive Bugatti W16 Mistral has a new name, and also a design. Because, even though the classic horseshoe grill presides over the front accompanied by two large air intakes, the design of the headlights is completely new. From the horizontal rips of the Chiron it has gone to a vertical stack with four thin strips of LEDs at the ends of the front. The slanted windshield directs air to a rear with two large humps behind the seats, which flank the powerful engine, and which are not only a decorative element, but also aLoja some induction air intakes.
And if the front is so striking, the rear is no less so, with an absolutely new style. Two large LED filaments spread out in an “X” shape occupying the entire back and illuminating the brand name in the center, an heir to one of the brand’s brightest classics, the Gangloff’s 1934 Grand Raid Type 57. The Bugatti W16 Mistral is made entirely of carbon fiber, and in its conception, including the design, the team of Rimac.
The W16 Mistral is technically based on the Chiron Super Sport 300+so from this it inherits the 16-cylinder W engine and its four turbochargers, with a maximum power of no less than 1,600 hp and as many in the engine torque, so its top speed reaches almost 500km/h. Nothing new, but in terms of sales, because the 99 units that are only going to be manufactured, at a price of 5 million Euros eachThey are all already sold. A really unique model that turns the French firm into the fastest roadster in the world at a stroke.
