Playing Batman is a titanic challenge. Others have succeeded before, like the fantastic Christian Bale, but many have failed (we still fondly remember the loud fail Ben Affleck as Batman). Now it’s time for one of the most anticipated movies of the year. A call to renew (once again) one of the franchises most adapted to cinema.
batman It’s the start of what I hope will be a long franchise with a much darker protagonist. and that explores the most detective side of this impressive comic character.
Robert Pattinson’s new Batman, far from the classic superhero
We move away from Bale’s Batman to enter a harder one that has found in Robert Pattinson the last of his shoe. using Year one by Frank Miller as inspiration, director Matt Reeves wanted to capture a younger Batman that he has to search through his own fears and wounds to become the protector of Gotham.
Batman: Year One (Dc Black Label Library) (Third Edition)
But beware, we are not going to see the origin of Batman again as we have already been told a thousand times, but rather we will explore during the almost three hours of the film (which could easily have remained in 2 and a half and without the film losing strength) by dark passenger who accompanies Bruce Wayne and who brings Robert Pattinson to life in a masterful way.
Sad, melancholic, harsh, violent, human, complex and sometimes even emo. This new Batman is called to burst the box office and become a must have of 2022 and after seeing the movie I assure you that it will be like that.
With this Batman that moves away from the genre of the simple superhero to mix it with the police, we explore a profile more focused on the classic detective movie (If the action is going for you, don’t worry, there’s also). A Batman who uses deduction, intelligence and brute force, and whom we discover thanks to the great villain of this movie, Enigma, played by Paul Dano and inspired by the Zodiac killer.
This Batman well earns the nickname that has sometimes accompanied him in the history of the “World’s Best Detective”.
Along with them, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Jayme Lawson, Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell among others, and of course Zoë Kravitz.
Zoë Kravitz’s Catwoman in Batman
If becoming Batman is difficult, it is even more difficult to succeed as Catwoman after some interpretations that we will always remember, such as that of a spectacular Michelle Pfeiffermore catlike than any of the actresses who have played the character, or the wonderful performance of Anne Hathaway in Christopher Nolan’s version.
The bar was very high but Zoë Kravitz is a lot of Zoë and has managed to be the best Catwoman in history. She has shown us a discreet and wonderful Catwoman that she does not need to flaunt her name anymore if she appears more cat than human. Nails on stiletto nails, a black leather suit that fits him like a glove and a balaclava with subtle cat ears, it’s enough for him.
Her story with Batman is complicated and shows us the real Selina Kyle, a thief in white gloves (or black leather, depending on how you look at it), who ends up entangled in a conspiracy resulting from the corruption that inhabits and dominates Gotham.
And we won’t tell you more, because the movie deserves your time, the cinema ticket and a good bucket of popcornbecause these three hours start a new Batman and a new Catwoman who has already conquered us.
