The mark of the four rings continues with the onomastics. The flagship sports car also celebrates its anniversary with a special and exclusive edition that has an important farewell flavour. The two-door sports car becomes the most powerful option ever made with the Audi R8 Coupé V10 GT RWD.
It is nailed to the prototype that was sighted in the past winter tests. The Audi R8 made an appearance with a more brutal and sporty configuration, pointing to a special and limited edition that was supposed to put the icing on the cake for this generation of the model with the four rings. Now, the brand has announced the exclusive Audi R8 Coupe V10 GT RWDof which only 333 units will be sold in Europe and which points to a cessation of production in a medium-term time horizon.
And it is that it presents a detail that makes it so special and that clearly points in this direction that we will discover later, when we review what its aesthetics offer. This Audi R8 is presented with a more brutal image, with a clear heritage of the V10 Performance RWD presented last year, and standing out for some impressive forged alloy wheels in 10-spoke design and 20-inch diameter.

But, also because of the deployment of aerodynamic components – from the front splitter, the wings at the ends of the front bumper, the side blades, the fixed rear spoiler, the huge diffuser or the side skirts – made in exposed carbon fibercreating an attractive and elegant contrast with the three body paints available, the metallic “Tango Red” and “Daytona Grey”, or for the most exquisite the optional matt “Suzuka Grey”.
The wildest R8 also has carbon-ceramic brakes as standard, which subtract no less than 20 kilograms from the unsprung masses, reducing the weight of the whole to just over a ton and a half. Inside, the icing on the R8 range stands out for the new competition seats, authentic bucket seats with red seat belts. The same color that the “GT” logo on the mats wears, while the carbon fiber covers the gear lever.
But what makes it really interesting, and what points to the cessation of production of this generation, is its maximum power. The turn of the screw in the naturally aspirated V10 engine has made it possible to reach a figure of 620 hp, becoming the most powerful R8, and surpassing the 570 hp of the Performance quattro. Its benefits are at the height of a true sports car, as you can see in the following table.

A power that will be dosed differently depending on the chosen driving mode, with no less than seven possibilities embedded in ESC traction control. Through a specific button on the steering wheel, it will be possible to select one of these modes that displays all the driving aids in the most basic ones, but also eliminates them completely, relying on the driver’s skill, especially in the «Rear Torque».
