Tobías Möers, new manager at the head of Aston Martin, has put the most direct gear to expand the offer of the British SUV. The Gaydon firm has already begun testing, in view of these spy photos, of one of the most efficient mechanical options, a micro-hybrid that will be released at the end of the year, and whose sales will begin in 2022.
The president at the head of Aston Martin will apply the same recipe that he made in Mercedes-AMG, offering different versions of high power, but without giving up maximum efficiency either, something that not entirely impossible thanks to advanced electrification technology. In fact, it was only a couple of days ago that we saw the first spy photos of the new Aston Martin DBX Hybrid 2022.
A key formula to increase the sales of the model in the face of competition that has clearly strengthened in recent years. The DBX will not only bet on different forms of hybrid propulsion, but will also expand the range with more sporty body variants -a coupe- and more practical with up to seven seats, which will arrive from 2024. However, these spy photos of the sports SUV on the German track correspond to the first model of the brand equipped with a «mild hybrid» system, confirmed by Möers himself.
Aston Martin DBX Hybrid to debut in 2022 with 48 Volt technology
The DBX Hybrid will benefit from the Inline six-cylinder 3.0-liter twin-turbo from the star brand offered in the AMG 53 models. The engine, known internally as the M256, offers a maximum power of 435 hp, but it is being thoroughly revised so that this figure increases enough to exceed 500 hp. The next step in efficiency will come later, in 2023, with a plug-in hybrid.
In between, it will also come a more extreme version with 650 hp. The sights are clearly set on the Porsche Cayenne and Lamborghini Urus, as well as other German competitors of the same size, increasing the maximum power currently approved by the 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine that powers the Aston Martin DBX by a hundred horsepower. .
A set-up of this Aston Martin DBX Hybrid that, although it has been sighted for the first time on the German circuit, started this past spring, as this particular test prototype was enrolled last March. New versions with which to awaken the attention of customers, and with which to revive sales of just over a thousand units per year, and that the brand intends raise to 10,000 units by 2025.
