BlueStacks is one of the most popular and widely used Android emulators that we can find on the market, an emulator that allows us to enjoy our favorite games and applications directly from a PC. The next version of this emulator, with which it will reach version 5, will incorporate important new features, which we can already test.
One of them, and perhaps the most interesting, is the reduction in memory consumption, a reduction of up to 40%. This has always been one of the main problems of this application compared to other solutions available on the market, a problem that is already solved with the BlueStacks 5 beta, beta now available.
To achieve this improvement in performance, the guys at BlueStacks have completely rewritten the application and have taken the opportunity to offer support for computers with ARM processors, to take advantage of these processors in the applications available in the Play Store.
According to Sharad Agarwal, Chief Architect of BlueStacks 5:
ARM devices have a great advantage over x86 for running Android applications, as they do not require binary translation. Our support for ARM reflects the work we have been doing for the past three years.
Still on Android 7.1.2
One of the negative points that to this day remain unexplained is that the base of BlueStacks 5 is Android 7.1.2 Nougat, a version that hit the market in 2016, almost 5 years ago, with the associated problems.
By using such an old version, sooner or later, users are going to run into compatibility issues, as developers drop support for this version.
It is great that the RAM consumption has been reduced by 40%, however, since you have rewritten the application from scratch, to avoid future problems, they should have used a more recent Android base.
If you want to try this new version, you can do it through this link. This version is in beta, so it is likely that its operation at some times is not adequate, hangs or closes at some point.
