For decades we have seen billboards in cities promoting brands, companies and products. Technology led us to see banners on web pages or art on platforms like YouTube or Twitch. Now, the future of ads would be in space.
Experts in Russia raised the possibility of use satellites to be able to frame an advertisement in orbit, with the aim of enjoying a mobile or fixed show that would represent a logo or slogan set for a certain time.
As the report published on the website of the Urban Technoit is true that the ads would only be seen during the nights, but the fact of seeing stars next to a space billboard sIt would mean the next step in advertising.
It would work like Starlink
The warnings in space would make use of satellites and their operation would be similar to how the satellite units of Elon Musk’s Starlink network move in orbit.
The technology moves in a straight line in a chain and Russian experts suggest that this method can be used as a means of advertising.
As for the economy, the specialists believe that, in the medium term, about 50 satellites could be used for warnings and it would be a profitable amount.
FreeThink points out in a report that the first estimates suggest that this option could generate up to 2 million dollars per day, a millionaire idea. Also, an ad for just over a month could cost about $65 million.
Researchers from the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) established a series of criteria to guarantee the feasibility of the project and ensured that you could create a whole series of representations in the sky.
“As unrealistic as it may seem, we show that space advertising based on 50 or more small satellites flying in formation could be economically viable”, they conclude.
