It is one of the largest and best-selling models in the United States. The American division of the Japanese brand has implemented changes in the Toyota Highlander 2023. A small but no less interesting update for the SUV that brings important innovations in equipment and also in efficiency.
On sale in Europe, and in Spain, for just over a year, the North American model has now undergone a slight update, introducing important improvements for a model that is a true flagship on the other side of the Atlantic and where it harvests very important sales figures. The manufacturer can boast that, for the last six consecutive years, it has been a benchmark in its category.
This is the key reason why the North American division of the brand has decided to implement improvements in the Toyota Highlander 2023. The novelties on the outside are limited to new alloy wheels of 20 inch painted black, and a new body color, while inside the upholstery offer has been expanded with the colors “Beige Harvest” and a special tone “Caramelo”. Nothing too remarkable compared to the equipment, where the SUV does improve significantly.
Toyota Highlander 2023, improvements for the leading SUV in the USA
Digital technology takes over the dashboard, with a new 12.3-inch instrument cluster display, with up to four different display modes, “Casual”, “Smart”, “Tough” and “Sports”. A second 7-inch touch screen as standard occupies the center console, with a 12.3-inch option on the most basic versions and standard on the “Limited” and “Platinum”. From this the multimedia system is managed, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, wireless updates and voice control with natural language commands which responds to the “Hey Toyota” command.
The firm has also relocated the wireless charging surface for mobile devices, now under the air conditioning module and with better access. Interesting news but still not the most important found in terms of engines, because the Highlander 2023 has seriously opted for maximum efficiency although not at the same level as in Europe, where it is marketed exclusively as a hybrid.
In the United States, the manufacturer has dispensed with the 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engine and has opted for one of two cylinders less, supplying these with the action of a turbo and 2.4 liters of displacement. An important improvement that will allow fuel consumption to be maintained at the levels of its predecessor, and that will reduce CO2 and NOX emissions, these by 50%, according to the manufacturer, compared to the old block. But this improvement has a consequence in terms of power, which is reduced by 30 hp, from the old 299 hp to 269 hpalthough the torque has increased, from 357 Nm to 419 Nm.
