The future of the Porsche 718 Boxster is a mystery, but the German brand extends the commercial life of the compact roadster with a new, more radical version that has been surprised in this new round of tests at the Nürburgring circuit. The firm is preparing the new 718 Boxster Spyder RS that will debut in 2023.
Porsche’s product departments are fuming. It cannot be said that not one of them is resting. At least, for now, the only one that has not been heard from is the 718 Cayman, because the sedan and the three SUVs are working to the maximum. But in the 718 Boxster there is also news, because the German brand has given the second surprise in the circuit of Nurburgring.
If a few hours ago it did so with the new 911 ST, now Porsche has launched the first prototypes of a more radical version of the compact roadster, that of the new Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder RS. Nail spy photos that show a first confrontation with the Nürburgring layout and a quieter walk around the surroundings, the usual circulation route for the prototypes. This more radical version of the Boxster is a roofless alternative to the exclusive Cayman GT4 RSsharing with it some features that will make it stand out especially, such as the larger size of the leafy air intakes on the front bumper.

Some openings that will allow a greater flow of air to be supplied to the cooling system, at the same time that it presents a fine spoiler on the lower lip, copying the aggressive design of the front of the two-door model. This Boxster also displays the powerful carbon-ceramic brake system with yellow calipers behind forged alloy wheels with central lock, and a rear more than attractive and suggestive with the usual humps behind the front seats. The diffuser and the two exhaust tips are, for now, provisional, in the absence of the details typical of the “RS”.
Some pieces that will be made of carbon fiber in sight, and in which we also expect a manually adjustable rear spoiler, which will enliven the rear view with an extra more aggressive. Porsche technicians are already working on adjusting the driving dynamics, which is a new suspension configuration adopting specific springs and shock absorbersas well as a new geometry and stiffer stabilizer bars, also contributing with a weight loss removing interior equipment.
The 718 Boxster Spyder RS is expected to debut in 2023 closing the commercial cycle of this model prior to its transformation into an electric one. Until then, combustion lovers will be able to enjoy the sky through the roof aboard a version that will inherit the engine from 4.0-litre naturally aspirated boxer six-cylinder from the 911 GT3. The estimated performance figures are truly frightening, with maximum power will reach 500 hp. A brute force that will be transferred to the asphalt through the rear axle and the automatic gearbox 7 speed PDK.
