The Fiestas de la Candelaria are a tradition that has been celebrated for 246 years. This Veracruz city, erected on the shores of the papaloapan riverwas declared Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 1998.

The Fiestas de la Candelaria Tlacotalpan 2023 will offer a diverse variety of recreational and artistic activities. According to the local authorities, more than 150 cultural and gastronomic activities, courses, workshops, as well as jarocho.

The Candelaria celebrations in Tlacotalpan will take place from January 31 to February 9.

National Meeting of Jaraneros

The meeting is headed by the traditional Sisquisirí Group, the Sonera de la Cuenca Community, the “Más por Tlaco” AC, as well as by state and municipal authorities.
During this event, soneros, dancers and versadors from various regions of Veracruz participate, as well as from other places in Mexico. It will have the categories of they are jarochoindigenous and/or mountain groups or, children’s and youth groups.
