Netflix has taken to reviving some series that were public favorites at the time. If they are fans of that 70s showThis will surely interest you. Soon we will see a sequel to that successful production on Netflix, and here we have all the details of the project, which will be named That ’90s Show.
what will it be about That ’90s Show?
The series will be located 16 years after the original and will have the children of the original characters as protagonists.
Set in Wisconsin in 1995, That ’90s Show follows Leia Forman, daughter of Eric (Topher Grace) and Donna (Laura Prepon), who is visiting her grandparents for the summer. During this time she will join a new generation of Point Place children under the watchful eye of Kitty and the stern Red.
“We agreed with each other, we wouldn’t do it unless we could find a reason,” says Lindsey Turner, daughter of the original creators and executive producer of the sequel. “The 1990s was the last time people looked up, not down at their phones. It was that last place of a real kind of engagement, having to make your own fun and really connect with each other.”
The idea is that each season is set only during the summer, since narratively Leia can only make trips to see her grandparents when there are no classes. The producers say they like the idea of having an open letter each season for these teenagers.
Creative team and original cast
Original series creators Bonnie Turner and Terry Turner return as writers and executive producers with their daughter Lindsey. Gregg Mettler, who was on the creative team for the original episodes, will serve as showrunner.
If he is remembered for something from the original series, it is his cast. In the fashion show celebrities that are completely familiar to us today, such as Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Wilmer Valderrama, Topher Grace and Laura Prepon. All of them closed agreements to return to their roles.
the new cast
To the aforementioned actors who return to interpret their iconic characters, new faces are added that will try to rise to stardom as the original actors did. Callie Haverda will play Leila; Ashley Aufderheide to Gwen; Mace Coronel will play Jay; Maxwell Acee Donovan will play Nate; Reyn Doi will play Ozzie and Sam Morelos will play Nikki.
Why won’t Danny Masterson return to That ’90s Show?
The interpreter of Steven Hyde will be one of the original members who will not appear in this sequel. The reason? The actor faces trial for three counts of rape. The women who accused him assure that the acts happened in 2001 and 2003.
Masterson is a famous Scientologist, therefore, during the trial, he questioned his accusers several times for alleged irregularities in their stories. One of the arguments that he has used to defend himself is that the prosecution is against the Church of Scientology, to which he belongs. So far, there is no type of sentence in the case, but obviously, Netflix is not going to risk hiring someone with these types of problems.
When it premieres That ’90s Show?
