Liik’ik Talokan! Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta received the Best Supporting Actor award for his role as Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever at the 2023 NAACP Image Awards.
These awards are given by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Its goal is to celebrate the outstanding performances and achievements in the past year of people of color in film, television, music, and literature.
The quintet in the Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture category was completed by Aldis Hodge (Black Adam), Cliff Smith (time to shine), Jalyn Hall (Till: Justice for my son) and John Boyega (the king woman).

“I have no words. This is unexpected, but I have to say that I am nothing more than the result of a community. The community of the team and the cast in Black Panther. The community of all the people who made the film possible. The community that crossed the border, leaving everything behind, to build a new life in this wonderful country. For all the people whose land was stolen 500 years ago, to be here building a better life and a better country, for all the people who live here.
So I am the result of all of you. I am the result of your love, your passions, your eggs, your ovaries. Thank you. This is an honor. Thank you all: my family, my daughters, my sisters, my brother. OMG this is amazing. I hope things change not only here, but all over the world. We are the face to stop fascism, racism and all those fucking worries.”
The sequel to Black Panther was the top winner of the evening (in and out of the cinematographic field) with eight wins: Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress (Angela Bassett), Best Supporting Actor (Tenoch Huerta), Best Cast, Best Screenplay, Best Costume Design , Best Hairdressing and Best Music.
