Women’s tennis legend Martina Navratilova has confirmed that she has been diagnosed with double stage I throat cancer and early stage breast cancer.
66-year-old Martina Navratilova is considered a tennis legend for having won 18 Grand Slam singles titles throughout her career. It is worth mentioning that the women’s tennis legend, Martina Navratilova, had previously been diagnosed with breast cancer, which she defeated 13 years ago.
“This double whammy is serious, but it can still be solved,” said the American born in the Czech Republic in a statement that was released to the international press. “I expect a favorable result. It will be difficult for a while, but I will fight with everything I have”, added one of the best players of the discipline of all time.
According to the first reports, Navratilova noticed an enlarged lymph node in her neck during the November WTA Finals in Fort Worth, Texas. A subsequent biopsy revealed stage one throat cancer. During tests, a lump was also discovered in his breast, which was later diagnosed as an unrelated cancer.
Navratilova, won 59 Grand Slam titles winner of 59 Grand Slam titles if we count her participation in singles and doubles over the course of her 40-year career. His last was a mixed doubles championship with Bob Bryan at the 2006 US Open, a month before his 50th birthday.
Navratilova originally retired in 1994, after a record 167 singles titles and 331 weeks ranked No. 1 in the WTA rankings. He returned to tour to play doubles in 2000 and occasionally competed in singles as well.
