Tenchy, are you back in soccer and in the Peru Cup?
I am now in Diamante, the La Esperanza league team, I have returned to play the Copa Perú league after 24 years, my last experience was EBR and from there I went to Deportivo UPAO in 1999 with Ramírez Cubas.
Have you played in various positions on the field?
I started as a striker, first in a team from my neighborhood of Pueblo Joven El Bosque, from there to Real Libertad, there I played goalkeeper, midfielder and striker, then I became part of the EBR team, from there I studied Communication Sciences and when I went to play in Deportivo UPAO, they gave me the scholarship.
Who turned you into a winger?
I think it was Juan Caballero Lora when Coopsol was playing sports, there was only Amilton Prado on the right wing. At that time Rodrigo Saraz, Dertycia and Prado were on the marker.
Was the ‘Pelado’ Dertycia a crack?
Dertycia was an excellent person and a great player. He was a dude. He talked to me a lot. I have nice memories of him. There is always a love and respect for his person. He was already consecrated, he talked to me a lot, he told me to persevere based on discipline.
When was your debut in Primera?
I debuted against Cristal for a minute and the next game we played with the “U” at Lolo and he started as a starter. At minute 25 I collided with the “Puma” Carranza strong, I was always going strong and they expel both me and the “Puma”. I thought that Juan Caballero was going to sit me down, but he realized that my expulsion was wrong. The ‘U’ had a great team at that time, I was playing midfielder, we both came in strong, he was injured.
You went from being a rival of “Puma” to playing with him in the Legends Cup
Now I have the honor of playing with him in the Legends Cup. He is a great guy the “Puma”. I receive the invitation from Juan ‘Chiquito’ Flores. The first day I arrived was my birthday, they sang happy birthday to me, the “Puma” welcomed me and we made a nice friendship with the majority, with the “Toro” Cantoro, Michael Guevara.

I have had the honor of defending Trujillo’s jerseys, first Deportivo UPAO, then Upao Coopsol, then Vallejo and finally Mannucci.
Did you play the Libertadores with Juan Aurich?
I had the honor of playing in the Copa Libertadores, which was one of my dreams, we played against Neymar’s Santos, Alexander Pato’s, it was in Brazil, I think we lost 2-1 or 3-1.
How was that duel against Neymar?
I always go hard for each ball, without bad intentions, he receives the ball from behind, I go hard and I try to make him feel that this Peruvian player is going strong. In his language, he did say something, in one play he goes, puts his elbow in and just changes position.
Are you a footballer who came from below?
I come from below, the Pueblo Joven El Bosque, at the time red zone. I have sold newspapers as a child, I have sold bananas, I have taken care of cars, I have washed cars. If I had to go to the circus, I would knock on the door and say sir, please I feed your animals but you give me tickets and then I would sell them.
How was your childhood in your neighborhood?
In my neighborhood they called me the “terrible boy” because the neighbors would go to the market, they would forget the key to the house, they would knock on the door of my house and I would have to climb the walls.
How were your beginnings in soccer?
I started playing on the ground, in front of my house there was a brickyard, a wall, you crossed the wall and played on the ground next to the brickyard. From there I have played on the track, I always liked to play with the older ones.
Did you come out champion with San Martín?
I was champion in San Martín in 2007, I was in a 2007 preselection with Julio César Uribe, in Sudamericana with Vallejo, Libertadores with Aurich.
Have you ever had a major altercation?
I have had an altercation with two people in soccer, I have always said they can disrespect me, tell me from a to z but when they mess with my daughter the whole neighborhood comes out. I am a quiet guy but they mess with my daughter and the devil comes out of me. She messed with my daughter, I made the winning call, they investigated where she was from, they called him and he had to apologize. He went to apologize to the hotel within 10 minutes. Today he is a former forward, in León de Huánuco. Football people already know who he was.
What was “Cuto” Guadalupe like as a partner?
“Cuto” was a laughingstock, I had him as a partner, he always fought the issue of prizes, he was a great team, there was Chiroque, Manco, Valverde, Penny, Nacho Drago, Fleitas, Quina.

You left football for politics. How do you come back?
I had retired in 2020 playing for Deportivo Coopsol for dedicating myself to politics, I am an ambassador for the Talentos del Norte sports academy, which is a diamond sponsor, they encourage me to be part of the club.
Did you miss something in your career?
I am happy with my career, I have worn something like 10, 11 shirts, I have had the honor of wearing the shirt of the club that I am a fan of, Carlos A. Mannucci, of representing César Vallejo in a South American Cup, I am always grateful to Vallejo because they were my best years as a professional soccer player. There is a love for both.
In your team, are you like a father of the little ones?
More than dad I try to advise them and that they do not make the mistakes that I made and I regret. The mistakes not as an athlete, but as a person, as a couple, everyone knows what I experienced in 2008, something extra-sports.
What is the OBJETIVE?
I am focused on achieving the goal of the hope league, step by step, we have to play it to the death.
