Today, December 15, the only public temazcal in Mexico City is inaugurated. It is located in the Azcapotzalco Lighthouse xochicalli. During the opening ceremony there will be dances, workshops and traditional prespanic medicine.
The events linked to the temazcal are part of the Festival of Arts and Community Knowledge in which LIGHTHOUSES and PILLARS participate. Therefore, this Thursday the FARO Azcapotzalco will host some activities that rescue pre-Hispanic knowledge and traditions.
From 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., you can participate in the following activities:
- Barter: an exchange of clothes to rescue the customs of the native peoples.
- Embroidery
- Exhibition of herbal products
- Mexican Sign Language Workshop
- Prehispanic board games class
- Ball game
- Exhibition of Wixárika-Huichol art pieces
- prequahtemic dance
As for the temazcal, it is the only public one in Mexico City. It was inaugurated in 2018, but after an expansion and restoration process, it will be reopened today.
