This is a little guide to help your child create goals, and achieve them! Without a doubt, you will help him to know how to form (at the time) a life project that gives him a lot of well-being. It will be a great adventure for both of you!
From an early age it is important that you teach your child to consider and achieve goals because this will allow him to have the “habit” of making his dreams come true, which will not only give him the vision for the future necessary to establish a life project, but also to feel self-satisfied by feeling capable of getting what he wants and needs. Also, keeping your mind and thoughts directed at a goal will cheer you up; it is proven that they are a reason to live, they are part of the meaning of life.
Psycho-pedagogues point out that it is important that when teaching children to set goals, they must be in accordance with their reality and attainable for them, although with new challenges that motivate them. They must also contain specific tasks to achieve your goal and teach you to evaluate results. We leave you this step by step with very practical spaces for you and your child to have fun learning this valuable life lesson. To create!
Lesson 1:
Explain what a goal is. You can tell him: “It is something you want with all your heart, that to achieve it you put yourself some small tasks and other big ones, you do them in the time that you say and note on the calendar when you will do them.”
I WANT…
COMPLETE THIS SHEET WITH YOUR CHILD TO LEARN TO BE CLEAR ON WHAT YOU WANT AND HOW YOU WILL ACHIEVE IT.
STEP 1: define the goal; It has to be something really important for your child so that he feels worth the effort he will make. It helps a lot to make this wish positive, something you want to do, rather than something you don’t want to do. “I wish there were unicorns at my birthday party” instead of “I don’t want to dress up as a princess at my party anymore.”
STEP 2: Choose your small goals, those tasks that you will have to do to achieve your big goal: when will you do these tasks, where and how? (go to worksheet).
STEP 3: Make sure that your goal is something I can do and that I really depend on it; Talk to him to assess him and probe his attitude towards tasks.
STEP 4: If necessary, help him divide his goal into stages; for example, if you want to learn to swim, talk to the instructor to form a plan: first you must lose your fear of the guide, then float, dive… As you achieve these simple goals, you will become more excited and gain more momentum.
STEP 5: When you achieve the secondary goals, celebrate and reward him.
