Tax collection during the first nine months of 2023 in Mexico increased by 8.9% in its annual comparisonwith income of 3.3 billion pesos, the highest amount since 2018, the Tax Administration Service (SAT) of the Mexican Government reported this Sunday.
This amount meant an increase of 446,401 million pesosafter the 2.9 billion pesos that were collected by the Mexican treasury in the January-September 2022 period.
The supervisory authority attached to the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) of the Mexican Government also highlighted that during the last five years the increase in tax revenues has been 12.8%between 2018 and 2023.
In these five years, tax collection for the same reference period went from 2.3 billion pesos to 3.3 billion pesos.
The SAT reiterates that tax collection is the main source of financing for the Federal Government, which is why it has established different plans and actions, based on honesty, zero impunity and an even floor in contributions,” the SAT indicated in a statement.

The body of the Mexican Ministry of Finance highlighted among its actions the implementation of strategies to strengthen inspection efforts, encourage voluntary compliance by taxpayers and combat concepts and behaviors that erode the tax base.
