The most important Take-Two Interactive sagas aim to make the jump to the mobile market after the acquisition of Zynga.
After Take-Two Interactive’s takeover of Zynga a couple of days ago, for a total of $ 12.7 billion. According to Gamerrant, it seems that the objective of the company is to bring the mobile market to sagas such as Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, BioShock, Mafia, Midnight Club and more titles that they have developed or distributed over the years.
This information arises thanks to the statements of the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick, during a presentation to investors. During this presentation a slide was shown in which, in addition to the titles mentioned above as “iconic console and PC IPs”, several of the Zynga developers focused on the creation of mobile games also appeared, both joined by the phrase “The opportunity to bring Take-Two console and PC properties to the mobile market and add more game modes”.
Mobile games could also be expected for other Take-Two franchises mentioned in the presentation, such as Civilization, Max Payne, LA Noire, Kerbal Space Program and NBA 2K. It is even expected that some of them will resurrect thanks to this mobilization to the mobile market, as could be the case of the saga Midnight club, which has not received any new title since 2008 in the form of Midnight Club: Los Angeles. Although in principle what we can expect are mobile games from the most successful Take-Two Interactive franchises: Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption and BioShock.
It is not the first time that Take-Two Interactive has faced the mobile market. We have already seen, for example, Civilization VI alongside X-Com and GTA titles. The developer and distributor has been trying to approach this market for some time and the acquisition of Zynga could be one of the ways to approach it together with a team with a lot of experience, since they are veterans of the medium with titles such as FarmVille 3, Star Wars Hunters, Harry Potter Puzzles & Spells and Merge Dragons, among many others.
Still there is no official confirmation that franchises will be the first to hit the mobile market or when they will, but we can expect more news from Take-Two Interactive in the near future. Although everything indicates that Take-Two Interactive, together with Rockstar, plan to make a large number of announcements during this 2022.
