You probably thought that during the final moments of the film Thor: Love and Thunder would include a small tribute to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, well well, it seems you weren’t so wrong after all, since just yesterday, Taika Waititithe Love and Thunder director confirmed that his character’s sidekick, Korg, was named Dwayne after the wrestler-turned-superstar.
“It’s not a coincidence, baby”the filmmaker tweeted along with a fan’s tweet from Korg dressed as The Rock in his now infamous fanny pack photo, now, since in the movie, it is explained that the Kronans they can only have children holding hands and singing a song about the fire, and when the film ends with a closing montage, Korg and Dwaynea character who looks exactly like Korg, only with a mustache, singing while holding hands on top of a volcano.
“One is, it’s the director. So you’re dealing with an actor who’s actually really the director, and then it’s 100% a visual effect. And then the second part of that, is you have to make them part of comedy, which as anyone will tell you, I think every actor would do it, drama is hard, but comedy is significantly harder.”
“So the fact that it would rest squarely on the shoulders of the visual effects department, the fact that we had to make the audience laugh, we had to fully bring them into the story and make them believe the character, even though he’s 7 ‘6’ rock monster, made out of 1300 rocks or whatever. And literally every rock had to move against each other, but it never warped or looked like latex. It’s all kinds of impossible tasks.”he added.
