Sweeteners have been talked about long before and now, countless are the myths and legends. However, now a new reality presents itself: they have no nutritional value.
This was stated by the World Health Organization (WHO) through a recently updated guide on the use of sweeteners in different countries.
In this case, he suggested not eating in order to control body weight. Also, reduce the risk of diseases non-communicable (NCD).
Sweeteners, zero benefits
“Sweeteners do not confer any long-term benefit in reducing body fat in adults or children,” the highest health institution said in detail.
Similarly, “the same studies establish that its use could bring other long-term unwanted effects, such as the risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.”
The Director of Nutrition and Food Safety, Francesco Branca, spoke about it. “Replacing free sugars with sweeteners does not help control weight in the long term”he commented.
From their perspective, (…people should consider other ways to reduce free sugar intake, such as eating foods with natural sugars, such as fruit or sugar-free foods and beverages.”
He reported: “Sweeteners are not essential dietary factors and have no nutritional value. People should reduce the sweetness of the diet completelystarting early in life”, in order to improve their well-being.
The expert’s explanation works for everyone. However, those who already have diabetes, in a pre-existing way, are left aside.
Inconvenient
“Among the sweeteners that could cause long-term problems are: Acesulfame K, aspartame, advantame, cyclamates, neotame, saccharin, sucralose, stevia and stevia derivatives.”
In turn, they specified that such a suggestion does not apply to personal hygiene or care products in general, as is the case with skin cream, toothpaste, among other drugs.
