Break the obstacles in the way
Obstacles along the way may have some useful consumables for your adventure, so go for them whenever possible. Remember to go to options -> controls and configure the options as you see in the image below. The goal is simple: have more control over the carriage between encounters.
ALWAYS equip items
In Darkest Dungeon 2 the use of objects It does NOT consume the character’s turn, and they are much more important compared to the previous installment. To equip the objects, right click on the icon of the character in question while advancing on the map, and select the combat option in the upper left (the drawn sword).
It is important that you get a good handful of cures, antidotes and others in the different stores and in the combats, as this will greatly alleviate the burden on your Plague Medic (or the healer on duty) that you have on your team. Remember to equip your team with variety of objects to be able to cover various situations.
Calculate the damage: every attack counts
This is inherited from the previous installment, but you have to perform certain calculations if you want to maximize the damage. In this new installment the fighting is much harder, and they punish mistakes more, so a more or less attack can mean the difference between a character losing (or not) losing his temper.
For example: if an enemy has 2 health points left and you have already applied 2 Plague or Bleeding, DO NOT hit him. Let the negative effect end his life and focus on hurting another threat. This also applies to the different attacks of your characters: calculate where they will be able to attack to try Take off the enemies as quickly as possible one by one.
The mechanics of Death’s Door
Your characters and some enemies can enter the mode “At the gates of death”, a mode in which they deal reduced damage and in which they can disappear permanently. By default, your characters will have 75% resistance to this effect, which means that when they run out of health, they have a 25% chance of dying if they are attacked in that state.
In the case of enemies, this statistic is usually quite low, as you can see in the example above, in which if the enemy enters the state “At death’s door” they have a 95% chance of dying if they receive a attack. If you see that has no resistance to this state, then it means that you will die without being able to EVER enter it.
Choose your path wisely
The game features two types of route mainly: solid lines and dashed lines. The solid lines They are the safe routes, routes in which the rewards will be less but the risk of encountering a group of powerful enemies is low.
The Discontinue linesHowever, they are routes where you are VERY likely going to meet a group of enemies that are going to make things difficult for you (finding VERY good loot, though). Ideally, during your games, you seek a balance between routes, to get loot without exposing too much to the group.
Improve the skills of your heroes
Throughout your adventure you will come across several temples where you can improve your heroes. Sometimes these temples will show you combat memories of the character in question, having to win the fight. As a reward, you will get mastery points and new skills, the latter being key.
The better character skills They are locked at the beginning of each run, having to be unlocked through these temples. Take your time to get to know your characters and make the most of these temples.
Make the most of the inn
The inn is the resting place between zones, and a KEY point so your runs don’t go to hell. It has a shop, you can level up some skills with mastery points and it allows you to heal the health and altered states of your group (in addition to raising the relationships between them).
Remember to spend the inn items, feed your warriors, and lower (where possible) the madness points.
