The next Mac Pro aims very high and can break all records.
Apple’s October event has left us new devices such as MacBook Pro and AirPods 3, however the real protagonists were the new Apple Silicon processors: the M1 Pro and the M1 Max. These are two impressive chips, which double the power of their competition at Intel with hardly any mess.
We knew that Apple was capable of this after seeing the power of the M1, but now we know that it is only the beginning. The next generation of Apple Silicon chips to be used by the Mac Pro could quadruple the power of the current M1 Max.
As reported by Mark Gurman, one of those who best knows Apple’s plans, the company is preparing a chip for the Mac Pro that could have up to 40 CPU cores and 128 GPU cores.
For those who think the M1 Pro and M1 Max in the MacBook Pro are impressive, the new Mac Pro desktop is expected to come in at least two variations: 2X and 4X the number of CPU and GPU cores as the M1 Max. That’s up to 40 CPU cores and 128 GPU cores on the high end.

The M1 Max chip, in its most powerful version, has 10 CPU cores and 32 GPU cores. Therefore, increasing the number of cores up to 40, the calculation is simple. In addition, it must be borne in mind that the Mac Pro is a desktop computer, which does not require energy consumption as efficient as that of these chips designed for laptops.
We don’t know exactly when this Mac Pro will be unveiled, but it will certainly be the device that completes the transition. Last year Apple rolled out the M1 on all of its entry-level equipment, surprising everyone with its power. Now you have upgraded your more professional equipmentBut there are still two to do: the larger iMac, which will likely use the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, and the Mac Pro, which will arrive with an amazing new processor.
