A couple of surgeons of Gujarat made history on Friday by becoming the first couple of doctors Indians to climb Mount Everest, while another Indian climber conquered the world’s fourth highest peak without using supplemental oxygen, Nepalese media reported on Saturday.
The couple reached the top of Mount Everest with the message of saving the environment
Dr. Hemant Lalitchandra Leuva and his wife, Dr. Surbhiben Hemant Leuva, stood at the 8,849-meter (29,032-foot) summit around 8:30 a.m. on Friday, becoming the first Indian medical couple to climb the highest peak in the world, said Rishi Bhandari, Managing Director at Satori Adventure.
hemant is professor of surgery at the NHL Municipal Medical College and his wife works as medical director at Gujarat Vidyapith. The couple, who worked in different health centers in Ahmedabad, reached the top of Mount Everest with the message of saving the environment, The Himalayan Times reported.
Everest (or Chomolungma as it is called in Nepal) is situated at 8,848.43 meters and is every climber’s dream, but it is without a doubt the most dangerous challenge and the deadliest mountain on earth.
Yes, it is the highest place on our planet and the most famous summit that every child in every country knows about. But the story of its discovery and the brave people who tried to raise it up are often unknown to the public. Shaped like a pyramid due to the dissection of glaciers, Everest stands right on the border between two Asian countries: China and Nepal.
This peak is truly considered one of the most magnificent and at the same time most tragic and dangerous places in the world. Its abrupt silhouette has attracted many brave and intrepid people to reach the top. Unfortunately, many of them remained in their snow and rocky cliffs forever. More than 235 climbers and locals have died trying to climb the world’s highest peak, although the exact number remains unknown as not everyone registers before their trip.
This has to do with pressure and rarefied air, which is impossible to breathe for a long time. Although, despite the danger, the frigid air and the lack of oxygen in the air they breathe, many people risk their lives to spend a little time on top of the world.
How much does it cost to climb Everest?
Nowadays, this is a very popular question since, as we all know, high-altitude expeditions are a game of “pay to play”and you have to be not only physically prepared and expert in mountaineering, but you also need to be prepared to pay for it.
The minimum price is around $30,000 if you go on your own. Tour companies offer guided expeditions, and the price of their service is around $60,000. The VIP expedition service, which includes Internet access and constant telephone calls, reaches up to $90,000. In general, it depends on the guide and the quantity and quality of the services included in the package. However, when choosing a guide and the company to work with, it is important to consider not only the price and the name of the provider. It’s always best to do your research and see if the flight is included.
