Last year, Nintendo suffered from a gigantic leak, which continues to provide information that is liked by all fans. One of the files that reached the public was a prototype of Super mario kart. While some of this information had already been shared, it wasn’t until a couple of days that a modder managed to get this edition of the game to work, thus discovering several features that were not present in the final version.
According to modder MrL314, the prototype corresponds to a version that was in development in November 1991, a couple of months before its arrival in Japan in January 1992. Among the features that were discovered, highlights a level editor, which, surely, the development team used to shape the tracks of the game, but which was inaccessible to the player.

Along with this, we can see a battle mode in which missiles are fired, a camera that we would not see on the minimaps until future games. Similarly, there is an animated leaderboard in real time, versions of circuits that never saw the light and three-dimensional models that ended up discarded.
And if that was not enough, MrL314 share the download link in case you want to experience this prototype and its contents on your own account. In related topics, a rumor indicates that a new Nintendo Direct would take place in September. Similarly, the company has no intention of announcing a new console.
