Twitch streamers are occasionally subjected to unfortunate moments, strange intruders and accidents while capturing content in the world. And a Twitch streamer ran into a phone thief while exploring the narrow streets of Naples in Italy.
The popular streamer from Twitter Elina, from Sweden, yesterday made a live stream in Italy where I was exploring Naples in a residential area that has some street level businesses. Like other live streamers who have been hit on the train or hit by a car in front of their Twitch audience, an unexpected event occurs that drastically alters the broadcast.
While discussing possible security risks, Elina’s livestream becomes evidence of a crime when someone on a motorcycle grabs her phone from her hands and takes it away.
clip-on Twitter showing Elina losing her phone begins with the streamer looking to his side under an umbrella before saying “this looks great” and turning his phone’s camera to look down a narrow alley. Next, Elina ominously suggests that she believes she will die if she goes down the road, showing a pedestrian in a poncho carrying a bag in his right hand.
“The streets are so long it’s crazy,” says Elina as she turns the camera to face the main street in front of her, “if she died on the stream, I think it would be good content.”
Approaching a small store, Elina’s phone is stolen by a motorcyclist, who briefly continued streaming while escaping with the device. The conclusion of the video shows the narrow road that Elina was worried about, which may prove that she was right to worry about her safety going in that direction.
After showing the route they were going on, the thieves cut off the livestream, leaving Elina’s viewers worried about her. Elina was quick to post on Instagram after the theft, explaining that she was “a little shocked because her phone was stolen. She ripped it out of my hand, a guy on a motorbike.”
