After the success of the fourth season, the Duffer Brothers, creators of stranger things they plan to focus on the original characters in season 5, as their goal is to avoid introducing new characters in future episodes, this has come to light after a recent interview.
Where IndieWire spoke with Matt Y Ross Duffer about his approach to season 5, and even though everyone who enjoyed the show fell in love with Eddie MunsonBut, all that swell support didn’t happen for all of the new characters within the series, in fact some people lament not being able to spend more time with the main kids over the course of these seasons.
That’s why the Duffers listen to those concerns and return to the group’s adventures. hawkins for season 5, with this interesting balancing act because there are the occasional Barbs and Eddies that capture the popular consciousness, and these were their statements:
“Every time we introduce a new character, we want to make sure they are an integral part of the narrative”Ross began. “So that’s something with Eddie this season, where we say, ‘Well, we need a character here to make this story really work and to give it the engine that it needs.'”
“But every time we do that, we’re nervous, because you say, ‘We’ve got a great cast of characters here, and actors, and every moment we spend with a new character, we’re taking time away from one of the other actors. So we’re very, very careful about who we’re featuring. And then specifically in the casting process, it took a long time to find Joe Quinn, and you go through a lot of edits, because you know we can ‘don’t add someone who.’
“And the same thing happened with Sadie and Maya. And it’s not that the actors don’t know [tampoco]. Everyone knows they’re getting into a cast that people love, and you’re introducing a new element,” added Matt. “And you’ve seen it on shows that go wrong, so everyone’s nervous, but like Ross said, with those three in particular, and Dacre [Mongomery] Also, that he played Billy, it was like, because these actors are amazing, it’s really fun.”
“I like to change it, so we change the plot or add a new monster. We are doing our best to resist [agregar nuevos personajes] for season 5. We’re trying not to do that so we can focus on the OG characters, I guess.”
Now, regarding the premiere date of the next season in Netflixthe creators are figuring out what time frame will fit their production flow, and they explained it like this: “Depends on who you ask,” Matt mused. “That’s what we’re still figuring out. If you ask our AD and our line producer, they want more time for production.”
“Our post production supervisor wants more time for post production. So it’s going to be a great discussion. How long is the whole world? Here’s the thing, the more you shorten production, the more you shorten post-production, the more things get compromised.”
