We often talk about it in our articles because the news and innovation around electric cars are constant and remain very impressive. Often, what we point the finger at is the battery of vehicles, their range and their recharging capacity.
If the manufacturers make nice updates, it seems that ultra-fast charging is a reality to come … The Israeli company StoreDot returns to the front of the scene by affirming that its technology around its lithium-ion cells XF is almost ready, offering the possibility of recharging in 5 minutes.
Israeli company StoreDot wants to revolutionize charging
Perhaps you have already heard of the Israeli company StoreDot in the media, and for good reason: created in 2012, it includes the oil company BP and the manufacturer Daimler among its shareholders. In 2019, she impressed her little world by demonstrating ultra-fast charging of a scooter battery… Thus, the latter had gone from 15 to 100% in 5 minutes and 4 seconds.
The solution? Replacing graphite with metalloid nanoparticles in the anode, thereby surpassing current standards. In 2021, the company wants to work on the second generation of ultra-fast recharging cells and find new partners interested in its lithium-ion cells to enter a commercial phase.
