Valve seems to be moving to the creation of new hardware. Just a few months ago they presented us with their Steam Deck, the new portable console with the power of a PC that will allow us to play what we want, where we want. We already know that Valve’s console will be compatible with a lot of controllers on the market, but that has raised the question: Will Valve make its own controllers for the Steam Deck? A recent patent seems to confirm it.
Valve’s new patent was published on September 9. In it, it is detailed a remote very similar to the Steam Controller that the company launched several years ago, however, we can see some differences. In the graphic we can observe a trackpad that would act as a crosshead, as well as two joysticks that remind us of the Xbox, although this time they are in reversed positions. On each side we have a pair of triggers, as well as three buttons in the center for more direct actions with the Steam platform.
A new Steam Controller with motion sensors for Virtual Reality
Also, this will not be the only thing. This new Steam Controller would have motion sensors installed, as well as a finger detector. These technologies would allow us activate some functions depending on what we are playing. This would allow gamers to use this future Steam Controller as a controller in gaming games. Virtual reality, a quite interesting proposal.
This new Steam Controller has not been announced, and although not all registered patents end up being a real product, this has great possibilities going on sale. The Steam deck will go on sale this December, and Valve you have already ensured that your portable console is prepared for the future of video games, and they do not aim to compete with the Nintendo Switch.
