Elon Musk is known for making exaggerated promises, whether it’s around Tesla, SpaceX, or anything else on his Twitter feed. These promises are not always reliable and are rather ridiculous. announce that Steamthe PC game store, is coming to cars Tesla is one of those weird statements.
However, Elon Musk does not back down from the possibility that Steam work on vehicles Tesla. It even says that Steam could be coming sooner rather than later. Well, last week, the Silicon Valley Tesla Owners Community Twitter account made a post about playing around in their Teslas.
The post included a short video showing a Tesla Model X owner playing various games on the center console screen while the electric vehicle is charging. They even connect a PlayStation 4 DualShock controller to play Cuphead. Below, Elon Musk responded to the Twitter post by providing an update on the trailer for Steam for Tesla vehicles.
Musk’s brief reply first confirms that Tesla is still working to bring the Steam store to Teslas and that it is “making progress”. This is an expected and ambiguous statement. But, as befits Musk, he goes one step further, saying that a demo will “probably” be available next month. In other words, Steam or a trial version of Steam could reach Tesla as early as August.
The definition of “demo” carries a lot of weight in Musk’s Twitter post. It could refer to a version of Steam that doesn’t actually play any games, just to test how the software works on Tesla vehicles. It could mean that you will be able to play a single game or something equally small just to try it out. Or it could mean that a more substantial Steam beta will roll out to Teslas, but only for certain models.
