Today, October 18, 2021, is an important day for all those loyal buyers of any of the stores that have the Inditex seal: starting today the company will charge for all its gift bags and envelopes, they confirm us from the communication department of the group.
This measure, which is within the giant’s sustainability strategy, represents a step forward to generate less waste (and for users to be more aware of the indiscriminate use of bags).
In concrete terms, the charge will be 10 cents per bag and 20 cents per envelope. On one side are the large-size Lefties bags, priced at 15 cents, and those of Massimo Dutti, which can be purchased for 35 cents.
Inditex does not intend to generate profits with this new decision. In fact, the income obtained from this series of charges donated to environmental initiatives in collaboration with local NGOs from each market, they add.
After betting on 100% recycled paper bags last year, the new objective is to avoid the production of new bags or, at least, to see this number reduced as much as possible.
