While most video game fans want their next favorite titles to be as polished as possible by the time they’re released, news of delays can be incredibly disappointing. Bethesda has recently announced the delays of two of the most anticipated titles of 2022, the cooperative shooter Redfall and the highly anticipated Starfield.
The upcoming space-themed action-RPG has remained an enigma ever since it was unveiled, with fans only getting to see trailers and pieces of concept art from Starfield. However, this hasn’t stopped a lot of hype from building around the game, leading to understandable disappointment at its delay.
It is possible that fans will be able to see some of the gameplay of Starfield at this year’s Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase on June 12, which will likely make the long wait that much more painful after gamers see what Bethesda has been working on.
However, the delay of Starfield might not be as long as fans first thought, as a recent image shows the possible release date being touted on Xbox GamePass.
A reddit user claimed he was re-signing up for Xbox Game Pass when he took a look at the page for Starfield, which will be available through the subscription service for Xbox and PC. According to the Xbox Game Pass Starfield page, the projected release date for the game is “early 2023.”. Though Bethesda has promised the game will release in the first half of next year, the “early” aspect of its Game Pass release date may indicate that fans won’t have to wait much longer later this year.
Participants in the comments section on reddit pointed out that, given the vagueness of “early 2023”, it could be an interchangeable expression essentially referring to the first half of the new year. Therefore, fans shouldn’t expect Starfield to release on January 1st, for example, and expectations about Starfield’s release date should be kept low.
However, Bethesda fans are usually optimistic gamers and expect to see the next iteration of their favorite franchise every time a presentation takes place. For example, there are fans waiting for more news about The Elder Scrolls 6 at the upcoming Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase.
