A change that may not appeal to everyone.
It seems unbelievable, but it’s been a few months since in the PlayStation Showcase of September the remake of Star Wars was shown; Knights of the Old Republic, this being a title developed by Aspyr Media and that, according to what we have recently learned, could have been a remastered compilation.
Be that as it may, there is no doubt that Aspyr Media’s work will be closely watched, since, after all, it is the remake of one of the best games of the franchise. And in that sense, the last thing that is known of the title may not be liked by everyone.
This is because, in general, a remake can go one of three ways: be true to the original product, change mechanics to adapt them to modern times or a mix of both. And it seems that, far from what some will want, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake could take the second option, to the point of being a game more similar to God of War.
Star Wars KOTOR would be more like Nioh and God of War
This has been learned thanks to the Youtuber MrMattyPlays, who has published a video in which share information from an anonymous source, which would have confirmed that The combat system of the Star Wars KOTOR remake would be totally action-packed resembling titles like Nioh and God of War, from which I would have taken inspiration.
Keep in mind that Star Wars: KOTOR is a turn-based fighting game, so this decision may not end up liking everyone. In the same way, the YouTuber also enters the field of speculation when talking about an action system that respects, in a certain sense, the turns of yesteryear, as is the case with Final Fantasy VII Remake.
It should be noted that, at no time can this information be taken as true or false, since everything that is not official confirmation by those responsible must be taken with a grain of salt. The only thing that can be clear in this regard is that in recent years turn-based fighting has declined excessively, so we will have to see what decision they end up making with this remake.
Be that as it may, there is no doubt either that Star Wars would be living a critical moment in the video game industry, since, on the one hand, the upcoming announcement of the Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order sequel is rumored, while, on the other hand, 2021 closed with the announcement of Star Wars Eclipse during The Game Awards.
