Star Wars has a promising future on next-gen consoles. As you well know, this great franchise has several very interesting projects for the coming years, such as the Star Wars game from Ubisoft, the recently announced Star Wars Eclipse from Quantic Dream, LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga or the remake of KOTOR, coming to Xbox after temporary exclusivity on PlayStation. But this does not end here, since yesterday Respawn (EA) announced that it is developing 3 new Star Wars games: Jedi Fallen Order 2, a new project of action in the first person and another of strategy.
Although, that Respawn has several Star Wars projects in hand is more than incredible news, but sources familiar with said announcement (via venturebeat) have revealed that Star Wars Battlefront 3 is practically dead. This is because EA is moving all Star Wars games to the Apex Legends studio, leaving DICE to handle other titles like Battlefield. Also, these rumors make sense in relation to what Tom Henderson posted about EA would have finished with Star Wars Battlefront 3because, under the terms of EA’s current licensing agreement with Disney, a potential third game in the Battlefront franchise would need to sell 20% more copies to offset licensing costs.
