Although the information about this project is given in dribs and drabs, the writer finally offers an update on the film Blackhawk, by Steven Spielberg.
In an interview with Collider, Koepp confirmed that the film is still in development, but changes at the executive level in the divisions of Warner Bros. Entertainment have put the project on hold, which will start moving forward shortly.
“We all think (Blackwawk’s script) is very good. There were a lot of management changes at Warner Bros, so I think we’ve been waiting for that to die down. And let them decide what they want to do with their DC Universe”
Spielberg will return to the Blackhawk project, which Koepp confirmed will not feature another DC Comics hero
Meet BlackHawk, DC’s Next Movie Hero
Blackhawk made his appearance in Military Comics #1 (Aug. 1941), published under the Quiality Comics imprint, the publisher that acquired DC Comics in 1951.
His original name is Bart Hawk. He is the leader of the Blackhawk air squadron, which participated in World War II, one of the periods that Spielberg is interested in recounting.
Blackhawk has also had significant participation in animated series and films such as Justice League: The Final Frontier.
It is still unknown if this Blackhawk project will be a story that integrates the DC Comics Extended Universe, or is part of a different universe.
