In these five years that NieR: Automata has been on sale, it has been a huge success among players hack and slash lovers from Platinum Games and those who enjoy a good story full of nuances and connotations, personal brand of Yoko Taro, but it has always been in doubt that the Japanese creative is willing to continue the adventure. Although it would not necessarily have to refer to a new game in the series, which Square Enix has registered the trademark “4 YoRHa” gives some hope to fans to see news about the NieR series.
Specifically, Square Enix registered in Europe the “4 YoRHa” brand on April 19, along with Triangle Strategy. It’s not entirely clear if this is some new content in the series coming soon, or just a formality in paperwork. Let us remember that “4 YoRHa” was also the name of a DLC for NieR: Replicant ver.1.22474487139… that allowed its protagonists to be dressed as those from NieR: Automata.
The future of NieR
After the enormous success of NieR: Automata, Square Enix bet on a remake of the original game in the series. NieR: Replicant ver.1.22474487139… featured Updated graphics, greatly improved control and combat system, and a whole new ending for the game. Even so, the only great novelty left by the Nier Automata 5th Anniversary Celebration Event at the beginning of the year was the announcement of an anime.
As far as Yoko Taro is concerned, the NieR saga is finished, the creative confirmed at the end of last year. Quite a stick for the fans that he wanted to see a continuation of the NieR: Automata story or some other new adventure in his posthumanist universe. After all, it is thanks to Automata that NieR became such an important franchise for Square Enix.
