In mid-June, Square Enix held a special broadcast for the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy 7, where it announced the sequel to FF7: Remake with Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth and the remastered Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion. However, at the moment there are no plans to do a remaster or remake of Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus or Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII.
In an interview with Famitsu, Yoshinori Kitase and Tetsuya Nomura discussed the recently announced Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion, as well as Square Enix’s plans for the future of the series. The first question they were asked was about the other games in the series like Dirge of Cerberus: FFVII, but it seems that there are no plans to revisit them at the moment.

Although Tetsuya Nomura says that he currently has no plans to work on a remaster or remake of Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII and Before Crisis: FFVII, he admits that Square Enix staff have shown interest in this. “I’ve tried to calculate the cost, but I don’t have any plans at the moment.”
In Final Fantasy VII: Remake Intergrade we saw the inclusion of Weiss and Nero from Dirge of Cerberus: FFVII, but Nomura says this isn’t a hint of a remake of that spin-off starring Vincent Valentine. Instead, he says that the inclusion of those characters means that all of the FFVII-related titles were connected to each other, plus he seemed like a strong opponent worthy of being a boss.
Tetsuya Nomura also confirmed that Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth will connect with Crisis Core: FFVII Reunion and Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier, the battle royale for mobile devices that took place in November of last year. The creative director ends by asking fans not only to wait for the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, but also the rest of the spin-offs as they will be connected in some way.
