KTM is working full throttle on the development process of its new street car. The new KTM X-Bow GT-XR has been surprised carrying out some very important tests on the Nürburgring track. This high-performance model is powered by the same engine as the Audi RS 3.
The Austrian brand KTM continues to work at full capacity in the development process of its new and long-awaited high-performance vehicle. A model that will be approved for the road. Its about new KTM X-Bow GT-XR. This true beast on wheels continues to complete the key phases of its development. If the last time it was spotted by our spy photographers, it was in northern Europe carrying out winter tests, now it has been seen in an idyllic place for motor lovers.
The new X-Bow GT-XR has been surprised on the Nürburgring track. Its passage through the well-known German circuit is decisive in achieving an optimum set-up for a vehicle that, although it can travel on roads, it is unquestionable that one of its natural habitats will be on road circuits.
Spy photos of the new KTM X-Bow GT-XR
The first tests that the X-Bow GT-XR has carried out at the Nürburgring have provided an additional challenge. And it is that, as can be seen in the photographs that illustrate this article, the weather conditions were not the most ideal. The rain made an appearance leaving the asphalt very wet.
In the KTM range the X-Bow GT-XR is positioned as the street alternative to the X-Bow GT2, a specific model for circuit. One of the main keys is found in its entrails. The “heart” of the new X-Bow GT-XR is neither more nor less than the engine of the Audi RS 3. It is a 2.5-liter TFSI five-cylinder petrol engine. This block is also used by the GT2 model and develops a power of 600 CV.
For the moment the performance of the X-Bow GT-XR are unknown. It is not ruled out that KTM makes adjustments to the engine to reduce power to a certain extent and, in this way, separate the street model from the circuit model. What we can take for granted is that it will have a rear-wheel drive configuration and a seven-speed automatic gearbox.
Weight and aerodynamics on the KTM X-Bow GT-XR
The GT2 version has a weight of approximately 1,000 kilograms. If to this we add a worked aerodynamics, we have as a result a beast on wheels. It is very predictable that the road version will have a higher weight due to the equipment and/or additional components that it will have. In any case, and faithful to its philosophy, KTM
will maintain a contained weight.
KTM is scheduled to reveal the rest of the information on the new X-Bow GT-XR before the end of this year. We will have to wait until 2023 to see it circulate on European roads.
