Spotify increases the price of its plans in Mexico and around the world. The music platform announces the increase in the cost of its commercial-free premium service because “the market landscape has evolved” since its inception, and that to continue growing, it is necessary to raise prices.
According to its website, the increase applies to all its plans in Mexico per month and they are as follows:
- Premium Students: before 57 pesos, now 69 pesos mexicans
- Premium Single: before 115 pesos, now 129 pesos mexicans.
- Premium Duo: before 149 pesos, now 169 pesos mexicans
- Family premium: before 179 pesos, now 199 Mexican pesos.
The app said in a statement that existing subscribers will receive an email explaining what these changes mean to their accounts.
Since 2020, prices have not risen in Mexico, which were thanks to digital taxes in the country. Now, this increase ranges from 20 pesos in the Duo and Family plans, 14 in the Individual and 12 pesos for students.
Not only Mexico will have this change, Spotify increases the price in its plans also in USA, Canada, countries in Europe. In addition, in Latin America, the change will be seen in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Peru.
Now Spotify will have to compete with TikTok, in addition to YouTube, and other music platforms.
