Everything seems to indicate that Mary Jane will not be able to die in the X-Men.
Mary Jane Watson made her first appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man #25 However, her true face was revealed in The Amazing Spider-Man #42 and she has since become Peter Parker’s most famous love interest. In fact, this entry was one of the most iconic introductions of Marvel Comics, precisely because of a red hair that defined her before the secret of her identity. But, if she is known for something, besides her romance with Spider-Man, it is for her phrase “You know, tiger? You just won the lottery!”, which, in fact, earned him the nickname “Tiger” to Peter Parker.
This old love of Spider-Man could go into the history of the X-Men. It is true that she is known more as Peter Parker’s lover (in addition to the fact that in a timeline that has now been rewritten, she is already his wife), however, she also stands out in the rest of the Marvel Universe as a fashion model and actress. , though recent comics have shown that Mary Jane ended up becoming a notable mutant activist.. Unfortunately, this very thing has led to Mary Jane becoming a target. But what do we mean?
A terrible plan awaits Mary Jane
Well, the FCBD: Avengers/X-Men, the story “Let’s Talk About Krakoa…” (number by Gerry Duggan and Matteo Lolli) in one scene shows that the X-Men’s greatest rival, Moira MacTaggert has macabre plans for Mary Jane. In other words, he needs her to die. And to achieve this, he will take advantage of the next event known as the Annual Hellfire Gala (which, in fact, is the second). Mary Jane is a guest, so Moira has devised a terrible plan taking advantage of the situation: steal mary jane’s ticket in a gruesome way that he has already done before with his own ex-lover Banshee and, for this, he will have to steal the skin of his enemy.
Whether Moira is aware of the connection between Mary Jane and Spider-Man is still unclear.. But if you had no idea about this, along the way you might realize that this impersonation will be much more difficult than you imagine, because there is very little chance that you can fool Spider-Man (by the spider-sense). of the).
And returning to the topic of the X-Men, there are plenty of reasons to mention it, since in an Official Guide to the Hellfire Gala published by Marvel on the Internet, there is an allusion to Mary Jane having a fundamental role in the story. Namely, along with featuring some art of Spider-Man’s Hellfire Gala suit, this post also indirectly hints that the X-Men will modify their Resurrection Protocols to bring Mary Jane back. And they write the following:
“Spider-Man didn’t get an invite to the inaugural Hellfire Gala, but this year, Peter Parker will discover that his destiny is too intertwined with that of the Krakoan mutants due to some new developments in his Resurrection Protocols.”
In a way, there’s something about this whole story that doesn’t surprise its audience, and that is that the X-Men comics wouldn’t kill a minor character of such caliber for the spider hero, much less in such a lurid way. Although, of course, it is also difficult to understand how the X-Men’s Resurrection Protocols will be modified to bring Peter Parker’s former love back to life, especially since they involve a set of mutant powers and Cerebro technology. For example, Professor X has taken it upon himself to record all the mindsets of every single mutant on the planet (and those records are uploaded onto a clone body). But so far we have no information that he has scanned Mary Jane, which makes everything more confusing.
As we have seen in the past, the first Hellfire Gala led to the claims of mutants on the planet MarsHowever, it seems that the second installment is weaving something much bigger, possibly that they have already managed to defeat death. While the franchise’s plans for Mary Jane suggest the X-Men will have to harness the power of resurrection, it could also have its own limitations. So this may mean that Spider-Man’s old flame won’t see his end in the X-Men.
We will have to wait for Marvel to reveal all its secrets in this next event.
