One of the strategies of the Mexican government to combat the deficit of health personnel has been the recruitment of foreign doctors. In this regard, the general director of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Zoé Robledo, reported that nearly 600 people have successfully completed the initial process. There is still a lack of doctors and nurses in Mexico

The most requested specialties
He indicated that currently each of the files is evaluated to compare it with the places that are available. While the three specialties that have received the most applications are Pediatrics, Gynecology and Obstetrics and Traumatology and Orthopedics.

He added that it is a one-year job offer to fill vacancies, particularly in very remote hospitals or that a specialty has not been covered for a long time.
According to the National Call for General Practitioners and Nursing Personnel, said that it is still valid to fill vacancies in the states of Nayarit, Tlaxcala, Baja California Sur, Sonora and Campeche. To date, 3,465 applications have been received from general practitioners, 1,245 from specialist nurses and 14,038 from General Nursing auxiliaries.
He pointed out that in this process, priority is given to workers who have been temporary due to their seniority and years of service, who were in hospitals caring for patients with COVID-19 and the rest of the people who have applied, in that order of priority. .
